So over the Weekend 123RF not only updated their logo, but did a huge...and I mean huge update on this site. The new colors are black, white and yellow - see below for a screen shot of the front page. They now have easy to click on buttons for all your info instead of the tabs. Overall I think this was a great improvement for the crew over there, keep up the good work. Sign up for 123RF Here.

For those of you using the Promotion deal with DepositPhotos they will be changing the program starting April 1st. Its really a small modification, but if you send in several images that have been rejected for poor quality they may remove you from the program...make sense, they don't want to look at hundreds of crappy photos that people are hoping to get a total of a $100 for. If you are not familiar with their promotion program, they pay out $0.20 per accepted image upto the first 500 images you upload. You agree the the photos will remain on their site for at lest 6 months, overall this is the best promo deal in the industry. Sign up for DepositPhotos here.

Shutterstock back in Aug. of 2009 added a cool little auto posting devices to twitter that would tweet about your new photos and your photos you have sold. Well, sense it has been widely popular they have now launched a very similar item that does so on your Facebook feed. However, just like Dreamstime, you can only post to your personal feed and not your fan pages if you have one. To set up the program click here, to join Shutterstock click here.

Shutterstock also hit the 10 millionth image mark in February

Veer has launched their first newsletter and inside is a tease of a new improved Veer Marketplace. Personally I can't sand their site as a contributor, so this could be very welcomed new. You have to click to many links to get to your pages and their stats are just not very helpful. Expect to see this new roll out later in 2010.

If you are going to be at SXSW in Austin during March 12-16 then swing by the Veer Booth and say hi as they are going to be attending this year. I will not be there, even know Austin is a few hours away from Houston.

Below is the full write up by Brian on the upcoming changes at VEER.

We have a lot planned for Veer in 2010 and want to give our Veer Marketplace contributors a preview of what’s coming up.

We are very pleased with the success of Veer Marketplace since launch, and we appreciate all your support over the past year – it has made a big impact! As a result of the early success of Veer Marketplace and the steady submissions of great content from our contributors, we are excited to say that Veer Marketplace will play an even bigger role in Veer’s business this year.

In 2010, our goal is to make Veer much more appealing to a much bigger, broader group of image buyers. The way we plan to do this is to make Veer simpler to use and more affordable for customers, while continuing to offer high quality content and ramp up marketing efforts.

We are already hard at work behind the scenes to make changes to our web site, products and pricing that we plan to introduce in the spring. These changes include:

  • Veer will integrate the Veer Marketplace model and content into the broader Veer web site, making Veer more like Veer Marketplace overall.

  • Veer Marketplace content will now be front and center in our search results, along with RF content Veer has from macro photographers and partners. We will streamline our web site so that there is a single search grid (rather than the two separate RM/RF and VMP grids that we currently have).

  • We will have a single checkout process for all imagery, type and merchandise (versus the separate Veer and Veer Marketplace checkouts we now have). Customers will be able to purchase everything on Veer with either pre-purchased credits or individually with a credit card.

  • We will simplify the customer experience on Veer by only offering easy-to-license royalty-free imagery, including all the imagery from our Veer Marketplace contributors. We will continue to have a wide variety of images from premium-priced images to value-priced images, all offered under the royalty-free licensing model.

Many of you have asked about our marketing efforts for 2010. We are continuing to market Veer extensively, and once these changes are in place, we will substantially increase our marketing activities to spread the word about our simple web site and affordable offering to a much bigger audience. We’ll keep you posted on details of our activities.

Many of you have also asked about improvements to our contributor web site. We are listening and are planning enhancements later in the year once we’ve made these changes to our customer-facing site. Please keep the feedback coming!

What does this mean for you as a Veer Marketplace contributor?
Once we’ve made these changes, Veer will appeal to a much bigger group of customers, and we hope to grow our customer and contributor base dramatically. This will mean more exposure and hopefully sales for your imagery as Veer Marketplace content is featured centrally on Veer.com, and we attract more customers.

There is nothing that you need to do to prepare for these exciting changes, though we’d love you to keep uploading to strengthen your portfolio. We really appreciate all your great work!

We look forward to sharing more details in the coming months, and please post any questions to the forum that you may have.

Cheers,
Brian

Cutcaster has released some minor upgrades and improvements over the last few weeks. First, up they have launched a new improved Lightbox (shut down clip folders)...if you are a buyer, log-in and check it out. If you have noticed things loading faster, your right...they have streamed lined several things behind the scenes to make traffic flower easier...so surf away at light speed. Another thing is their editors are taking more time to check through the media data of images/vectors, etc. so you get what you are buying and nothing more or less. This is just something that any company should be doing to make sure their buyers are not getting bad products.

If you are a buyer, help them improve by taking the following survey.

For those few of my followers, I wanted to let you know that I am still here. I have been swamped with studying for my licensing exams in Architecture (still ongoing) and I was out of pocket for a while as I got ready for some eye operations, which have been done with wonderful results. Now for the good news, I should be getting back to blogging more and more over the next few weeks. First up, a lot has happened in the stock photography world while I was out for my short amount of time. So you are about to see several new blog post, so keep up ;-p I am going to start blogging just on each stock site with their label, this way you can follow the articles you want easier.

Well Getty has finally chosen to shut down StockXpert, but they are not making it easy to understand. I will give my break down and you can read below the official report. So first off, if you have credits at SXP then you get a one for one trade with iStock (Buyers wont loose any cash they have paid). Now the tricky part, if you are just at SXP then you can request a finial payout of your balance, do so before Feb. 11th when they close the doors. If you are a member of iStock, then your balance will be transferred to that account. Everything makes sense so far right.

Now the wrench. Getty is launching a new subscription site called Thinkstockphotos...and if you are a member of SXP then they will be merging your images over to that site. They will only do this if you are opted in on third party option. So, now the odd part, you have a sale at Think...were does the money go...your iStock account, a new account at Think, nope...sounds like its back in SXP account. Even after they close their site, you will be able to log in and access the funds from Think...so why are they doing finial payouts and moving cash to istock for users...it all is very confusing. Hopefully they will clarify in the next few days. If you have an incite, feel free to comment.

Email 1:
StockXpert will cease regular operations. As of today we will no longer be accepting new uploads or signing up new members. Any uploads that are currently in the queue will continue to be reviewed until February 10, 2010. Then on February 11 searching and downloading will cease. The StockXpert website will continue to exist and will be accessible after this date for certain functions. You will still be able to access all of your account information, download history, and purchase receipts. SXP will still function for contributor payouts. And if you contribute images to the soon-to-be launched Getty Images subscription site we announced last month, you will still receive your royalties through your SXP account. If you aren't receiving any new royalties from the subscription site, you can request a one-time final payout by contacting Support http://www.stockxpert.com/support/contac .. . If you aren't already an iStock member, we encourage you to sign up and get involved by joining here . We will do whatever we can to make this process run smoothly for all of our members. Please read more about the future of StockXpert here http://www.stockxpert.com/forum/show_mes .. . Thank you for all of your support and patronage over the years.

Email 2: Thinkstock.com is a new stock image subscription site offering a comprehensive collection of select royalty-free photos, vectors, and illustrations from Getty Images, iStockphoto and Jupiter Images – and including StockXpert. It is the evolution of Jupiter Images unlimited we talked about on December 14 and launches with the highest quality imagery of any subscription service, from the biggest names in the industry. As an SXP contributor who is opted-in to subscriptions, some of your content has been migrated to Thinkstock.com. You can find your content on Thinkstock by searching for your first and last name in single quotes: 'John Doe'. Please note that the migration is still ongoing and will take some more time to complete. If don't see your opted-in files, be patient – they will show up eventually. StockXpert content will show up as the Hemera Collection. Thinkstock royalties will be paid to your SXP account once a month. Despite the coming changes to StockXpert http://www.stockxpert.com/forum/show_mes .. , you will still be able to access your account here for the purpose of receiving these payments. If you have any questions, please contact Support http://www.stockxpert.com/support/contac .. . Thank you

Well, due to a nice surprise at Shutterstock this January ended up being my best month every with my Stock Photography. I found out that I got my first Extended License over at Shutterstock, something that I have only seen once at Dreamstime. I doubt Feb, will be this nice, but here is to hoping. The top three guys this month was Shutterstock, then Dreamstime, and rounding out the top three was 123RF. I look forward to increased sales at 123RF when they launch their editorials section. Like always, check out the lovely pie chart for a full list of companies I had sales with this month (click to increase the size). Also, all other stock sites I have images at can be found on the left side of the blog. Oh, and I would also like to welcome DepositPhotos on the map with my first sale with them, which is great for such a new company.

They crew at Dreamstime has been busy so far the 2010. Below is a highlight of great additions already added in January.

First up they have not got an option to purchase multiple license for an image. You can find this option under the image details tab and select away.

On January 12th they launched a new download format for buyers. You now have the option to get almost any image in their database as a TIFF file.

Dreamstime has made it an option for several images to opt in or out of several extended license sales. There is a button that you can choose to turn on or off at your DT command center as I like to refer to it as. Also, if you have the option turned off a contributor can send an automatic request to you of providing them an extended license option. EL options are big cash cows for contributors, so I would think you would like to leave this option on for all your images unless something special is going on with one of your images.

On January 8th they added a little button in the command center that talks about excursive options. Most contributors might over look this, but once you click on it DT will estimate what you are making now and what you could be making if you are exclusive with them. I personally am not excursive with any stock site as its not worth it for me, but DT would be my leading choice if that was the case.

Dreamstime right now has 7.5 million images and 80 thousand photographers
